Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

In honor of the greatest Spidey fan and my greatest friend Anthony Joseph Succar.
Keep it simple… I always say.
I decided to add a smaller pair of eyes to add to the "edgy" vibe his fans love so much. Also, based on my love for parkour gloves I thought it'd be best to have his fingers and toes exposed. It makes him stick and makes his feet look less like boots which never really fit his acrobatic and wall-crawling style if you ask me. The more natural, the better. Also, I know people want to add white in his suit as a reference to the American flag but I say no, let Captain America and Wonder Woman represent. The films tried doing this by making the web lines reflect white. I removed his "belt" pattern which I will miss, but if anyone needed to keep a belt it would definitely Batman and Superman portraying the symbol of the hard-working American handyman. Spidey is simply a fun-loving acrobat. So no belt. His colors are mainly red and blue. That combination hurts anyone's eyes so I focused on the black to pop out, adding relief, also making the web design a big deal. Relatedly, every hero has one Dominant color, if you will, that we remember mostly. So choosing one I'd say (Superman: known more for his bright blue than his red) Spidey should be brighter red than blue. If you see the original first design in the beginning of time, the blue is almost black. This works here and I tried to make the blue with a tint of dark purple (stray away from "colors straight out of the tube) Also, his original eyes were small and serious, I liked that, so I added it! Haha. As for the web design itself; what inspired me was to have many diagonal lines and fewer curves that flow naturally through the body, making a radial illusion, thus implying a web. Radiating from both his chest symbol and center of mask. I wanted an almost cathedral window layout for these lines, making him perfect in the city scenery.
Spider-Man is a not as grounded as many heroes and the reason for that is quite unseen. He is simply a combination of so many others when it comes to anything about him and around him. And that is what makes him unique but like any story, it could be taken to another level. Having both animal/stealth qualities and publicity/celebrity oriented qualities. Older, stressful, dark, painful moments and very young, cheerful, child-like moments. Based on fictional settings at times (DC's style), yet also very much based on reality (meeting Obama). Too indecisive, there has to be a theme binding this web of ideas. And I think the new movie knows what direction to take. (Notice they removed the fictional Daily Bugle and how technology has become a major part in both characters and story). My interpretation of the Web slinger would have a strong theme and nice little moral to its story while always keeping the originals strong. Enjoy.
